About The Artwork
Each painting is on a canvas of size: 22cm x 31cm x 1cm. Added to that on one painting is a couple of cm extra in width and a few mm in height. Because of the papier mache, the volume on each canvas is approximately 5cm. The masked balls in Italy got me inspired for this, as well as Opera such as the Phantom of the Opera and the story of Harlequin and Pierrot (back home, we know/hear of Pierrot a lot more than Harlequin though). I wanted to show a story through those three panels: one for the masquerade (where people meet, dance and court), Cupid, with his eyes blindfolded (and a needle and gold thread to mend hearts); and last 'Heartbroken': as the name suggests, where life becomes dull and grey, life without end. Now, as any story, it is up to you to decide in which order you'd like to position each panel.

Heroes may be flawed, but as I read somewhere before "perfect is boring" (I can't quite remember who said it, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for that).
