About The Artwork

Many children suffer every day for being born to parents unfit to care for them. And while we all need a license to drive a car, any two people can bring a child into this world at any time, whether they are fit to be parents or not- a responsibility that far outweighs operating a vehicle! I started producing these works of poured acrylic with foreground images in oil the first few days of the lockdown when we were still trying to wrap our heads around the scale and the scope of the pandemic. I am still making them today, when we are above water, yet still forging the right path forward towards regaining control of our lives and understanding how this common experience affected us; a species sharing one vulnerable planet. This painting exists in water; in a flow of feelings and a wave of events. It illustrates a state of mind that still does not have the time to catch its breath. It asks the question: Which way will this tide take us? This bright orange, highly expressive, round painting will transform your wall and add a unique art piece to your space. Round Stretched Canvas - Unframed - Sawtooth Hanger attached

Ghia Haddad

United Arab Emirates

Ghia Haddad is a visual artist from Dubai. Born in Beirut, she lived through war and displacement and understands the power that art and artists have to spark positive social change through expressive color and imagery. She is passionate about examining identities of underrepresented women through her figurative art. Ghia expresses these identities by infusing her female portrait paintings with flowing fabrics, handmade flowers, beads, string and embroidery, thus challenging the traditional belief that fiber art does not have a legitimate space within high art. She also paints Arabic calligraphy with fabric collages on acrylic pours - vivid expressions in the language of her people; Arabic words mirroring the journey of their experience and the shades of their shifting identities.
