Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

Painting allows me to explore this uncertainty as a state of mind, and create new compositional narratives from photographs of objects and landscape around the place where I grew up, as well as places I only passed through. Through collage I carefully deconstruct imagery to create a detachment from an initial meaning. These new images reflect on the changeability of awareness and vulnerability of memory, when influenced by time.

Entering landscape can be a way or a door into another dimension, which triggers an internal dialogue. The gaps, that we are aware of within our memory consist of something that remains but is not fully acknowledged. Memory abstracts the experiences, which allows for new logic to emerge. The more time passes the more distortion of memories occur, therefore within ourselves we accumulate time, not memories. The other, the unknown – we give into it because it’s bigger, more powerful and we are transformed by it.
