About The Artwork
I am interested in exploring the transformation of the female archetype of the virgin/whore dichotomy which pervades most of western art and religion. Throughout history the feminine is either condemned as a vixen or subjected as a victim of violence, the damsel in distress, the virgin incapable of defending herself. I hope to explore and entertain new narratives by delving into the mythologies and transforming the imagery to shed new light on the archetypal feminine figure. The concept of the ouroboros (the snake eating it's own tail) along with the triple goddess as juxtaposition to the male centered 'trinity' is used as a commentary on the idea of original sin associated with the feminine.

There is a human and animal element that exists within all of us. A part of nature and yet outside of it simultaneously. I hope to explore and entertain new narratives by delving into the mythologies and transforming the imagery to shed new light on the archetypal feminine figure. My work explores the roles of women today and how contemporary issues are reflected through the lens of history, mythology, and religion. Drawing from symbolic, religious and mythological imagery, I trace anew an ontology of woman representation and inequality, by translating contemporary feminist ideas into installations where new media is often paired with photography and paintings made using traditional techniques.
