I am Nico, an artist currently studying Fine Art at the University of the Arts London (UAL). My work draws from a rich tapestry of influences and interests. My creative journey is centered on themes of place, identity, and intersectionality, but it's also deeply influenced by an array of other elements. Clarity and geometry are fundamental to my artistic expression, providing a structured foundation through which I explore the complexities of human existence. I find inspiration in the order and precision that geometry offers, intertwining with the emotional resonance of color that infuses my work with a profound sense of depth and meaning. Mysticism and religion play a significant role in my artistic vision, guiding my quest for deeper understanding and connection. The exploration of these spiritual dimensions often converges with my examination of the human experience, adding layers of complexity to my work. Materiality is another crucial aspect, as I delve into the physicality of art creation. This exploration is intertwined with themes of fear and trust, as well as life and death, elements that manifest as palpable forces in my work, inviting viewers to engage with their visual and emotional intensity. A recurring theme in my art is austerity, resonating with the sense of alienation or separateness that can be a part of the human condition. I am fascinated by the idea of two spaces communicating, serving as a metaphor for the intricate layers of human identity.
