About The Artwork

10/Mysterious Sphinx sits motionless on a wheel, holding a sword in its lion's paw. Mythical characters Hermanubis and Typhon are spinning in a circle. 2 snakes at foot of the wheel are balanced, which makes whole structure float, indicating a state of universal equilibrium. Card is telling to indicate vicissitudes of fate or fortune. Background was born in my head and transferred to canvas. Prototype of drawing is taken from a black and white image painted by Eliphas Levi. It is a symbol of perpetual motion.
