VIEW IN MY ROOM
“Wondering about the future” is part of my “Identity series” and is made with acrylic on paper. The artwork portrays a woman who is wondering, what will happen in the future. Her posture suggests that she is – almost eccentrical – showing her worry. The artwork has Chinese elements in it to allude to Chinese fortune telling culture which is a respected and important part of social and business culture. Sometimes, fortune tellers often take on a role as compared to management consultants or even psychotherapists in Western society. Fortune telling is a complex occupation and requires professional skills, a high number of social contacts and impact. The female in the center is a modern version of a fortune teller and even resembles a Geisha. Her latex looking dress is figure-accentuating, sexy and expresses that she has broken free of patriarchal structures. She is now in control and has taken over the important position of a fortune teller.

Lena Snow is a fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest (near Baden-Baden) where she is working on her latest artworks while keeping in touch with nature. Lena is specialized in female portraiture and sensual art with her main medium being paper. She earned a Master's degree at the University of Mannheim and Karlsruhe. "I explore various aspects of femininity and female identity in my paintings. My inspiration are personal stories of women I encountered, but also female characters in mythology, film, and literature. They are a new, powerful, and emancipated approach of one’s identity and sexuality, and at the same time they stand for empowerment for all women. For a long time only men have painted women, neglecting their personal stories of ambivalence, trauma and multifaceted nature, but it is time that women change the narrative and capture their unique stories by contributing to a new, empowered expression of elevated femininity." Lena has exhibited internationally, and has been published in several art and lifestyle magazines around the world. The award-winning artist is also editor of the international art magazine Goddessarts Magazine.
