Painted sides.
Ready to hang.

A collaboration with Whitney Avra, another Saatchi-featured artist, during the time of quarantine for an exhibition that was canceled along with so many others.

We each started with a canvas and then switched.

For the piece on the left that Whitney started, I added the phrase, X over the eye, and paper butterfly. At first, it began as a joke, but she loved it so I ran with it. The subtext is that past generations have it far worse than we do now.

For the right half, I created the background, type, x-out face, and collaged bluebird. Whitney added sequins and hand-sewn fabric. The phrase "It can't always be worse" is a twist of a phrase a reflection of current events, as well as a response to my contribution to her piece.

Both works are available as individual prints. Originals can be purchased as a pair. On either artist profile.

Often paradoxical in nature, my works draw on pop, street, folk, and punk aesthetics to transmute the trauma and pain of our world into expressions of joy, connection, and hope. Inspired by my own healing, my wish is that my art will move others to seek out their own imperfect truths, finding all that advertising tries to sell, already present within themselves.
