VIEW IN MY ROOM
Korea painting Bonche on Korea paper(Paper name is Jang ji) The picture is attached to the panel, but the panel is very heavy and can be bent when it gets wet. Please let me know if you would like to receive the picture separated from the panel. With 'Grotesque-marionette', I expressed the feelings of breathless alienation and the modern obsession that can not be expressed. The marionettes are twisted and folded, and play on the stage in the works with a faint vitality. I hope that the audience who saw the marionette series feel the relief and sympathy that they are different from them, and sometimes I want them to sympathize with the metamorphosed human existence of marionette. The main material expressing this work is the traditional oriental painting materials, ink stick and Bun-chae paint(coloring material that is made by purifying and drying naturally colored soil by removing impurities several times). Compared to simple Western materials, these materials take a long time and troublesome because they have to be layered in multiple layers. But the process of stacking layers is not a simple act of making works, but a process of putting my thoughts into them. is a figure that marionettes are pouring out from where the water spurts. I have focused on the elements of destruction and beginning in the shape of freely gushing water. The polarity of destruction and beginning reveals my desire that a brutal chaotic society is to be re-purified by the destruction of water.

My art work is based on the grotesque aesthetics, which considers the world as chaotic and ambiguous, and in which the limitations of imagination are always beyond imagination. Above all, I want to metaphorize the complex and confusing modern society by specifying the appearance of the grotesque shapes appearing in the works as psychological caves (grotta) mixed with human anxiety and anger. Of course, in this metaphor, the consciousness of the fundamental alienation of modern man is revealed in front of the image. I pursue the arts which can show us the reason we live although we exist in the world for no reason. As the boundaries between ugly and beautiful, moral principles and which are not, are becoming blurred, the world that humans have believed as absolute begins to collapse. Has there been a single moment that was not cruel ever since the human beings were thrown into this world? The eyes that look at the world just honestly, the eyes that face the grotesque, and the recognition of the existence of this unusual world, these are artistic attitudes with which I can perform as an artist in this cruel world.
