About The Artwork

What I engage myself is the job of weighing on a scale the shape of the human being in thinking and his speculations. I am into speculating about the weariness felt in life, discomfort of human relations, anxiety about the future, and a guilty sense or regret about the past. To proceed with work, put on rice paper on canvas for a rough sketch and conceive the images of thinking from many angles. Then draw a sketch on the human shape with his head down. Coloring job on the rice paper makes the trace of colors left on canvas by absorption of the paper, blotted as if human scars have been carved. On the traces of the canvas add colors in layers. Multifold colors differ from layer to layer by mixture of colors. While mixing colors, accidents and necessities are mingled with each other to be expressed on the canvas. Colors made unintentionally in this process produce chance conditions on the canvas portraying a subtle difference of colors. Colors piled up one upon another mean the human being’s speculating about their life and destiny. Then, for the entire picture, colors are applied several times repeatedly, which forms an echo in correspondence between the figure’s image and margin. It bursts out by dint of the collision with unintelligible beings while scraps of thinking are wandering around the time and space of a repeated life. Human thinking under the pressure of the weight of thinking causes social and natural weathering in a chance encounter with unrecognizable beings in the margin filling up the circumference. This leads to asking ‘What makes man lead a life?’ ‘Where is man to go?’ and ‘For what was I born in the world after all?’ and looking for the essence of existence, snapping downwards. It is the shape of man in thinking who is left only with the essence of man himself when his empty dream and desire, ostensible decorations have burned out in modern society which is changing so rapidly.
