About The Artwork

For this work, Yoon has created vicinity, a multimedia work that depicts the first category of her theory, Process Art. In this category, she unifies the processes of painting by constructing an environment that interprets the materials and forces working together. As part of her creative process, Yoon uses repurposed modern materials, fluorescent colors, wind, light, movement, sound and gravity to reflect the presence of the intangible phenomena. Early on in my career as a contemporary artist, I developed an interest for what is unseen and how it connects with our environment. This led to my research of intangible dimensions through the media, a study influenced by the theories of 20c media, modern science, and philosophy. From this, I formulated the theory of Intangible Art, a concept which expresses the contact between the Intangible - fundamental Interactions, Spiritual, Media, and Art. The process in which these elements bond and communicate with one another in a given space is the foundation behind my works of art. I identify my work as a new multimedia art genre represented by the formula M2I, which denotes the components of Intangible Art. The M2 represents the Materials and Immaterials co-existing with the Intangible phenomena, I. The discipline behind my work consists of four independent body of works within the exhibition space. Secondly, Medium Characteristics of Materials as light, sound, and space working together to highlight the harmony and balance of the environment. Third, Moving and Cycling expresses the critical point of creation and extinction caused by the constant movement of daily phenomenon through gravity and natural energy. Finally, Materialization of code and network shows the process of intangible energy through the online network. I define this as spiritually sharing information through the network, where it may not exist in tangible form yet exists in code. Through my works, I understood that intangible art has visible form as a process and invisible meaning.
