About The Artwork

The inspired film "Blade Runner" is a 1982 science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott. The futuristic city landscape with colorful neon signs at the beginning of the movie gives a strong impression. The 21st century AI is now about to reveal its face in earnest. Someone scares me that the possibilities for that development are endless. I watched this movie a long time ago, but now the reason I felt an emotion I had never felt before was because something changed and I started thinking about what it was. Even I experience it in my daily life. In the age of artificial intelligence, human emotions are sometimes useless. "I don't have time to think about these little things," he mutters alone. It's fascinating to me to be lazy with physical limitations behind. This movie, which I saw again 10 years later, asked me the definition of humanity sharply and coldly through the existence of being more human than human (replicant). The dark color woven directly from the paints struck without thinking and the silence caused by a sudden pause gave the work a sense of stability. As I made this work, I felt that nobility for myself.

" Colors produce the most beautiful when I most honestly reveal emotions. " I am a painter based in Seoul. The structural observation of Mother Nature through curves and primal forces is a visual element connected to musical composition techniques. I was strongly attracted to musical composition techniques, especially serialism, and at the point when I tried to use the musical forms of Messiaen and Schinberg in paintings, the perspective of representation in my paintings from looking at real objects had already changed significantly. My view of art is completely connected to Greek and Roman art and oriental calligraphy, blank space aesthetic conditions. Henri Matisse(1869-1954) still plays a guiding role in my paintings. decoration is pursued within two-dimensional synthesis. This is because I am a person who pursues purity in life. That is when I am happiest. The ultimate reason for drawing is to think deeply about how and to what extent I should act within the triangle of human will and freedom.
