Inspired by the following quotes, I wanted to do a series of work that spoke of the universal truth that regardless of what we look like, we are made of the same stuff, the same energy. "The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in out teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff." Carl Sagan "And because we are alive, the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and we see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe - its culmination, like the colour of the flower at first bloom on a wet morning" - Kim Stanley Robinson
