About The Artwork

Since forever, I’ve observed the animal kingdom, sensing an undeniable connection between them and us. Yet often, we struggle to explain it. They say that eyes are the mirror of the soul, and it’s through their gaze that I truly understood. Great apes have always fascinated me. But it was a genuine emotional impact when I first locked eyes with a gorilla. It happened at the New York Zoo. I stood there, stunned, as if struck by lightning, by the power and depth of that gaze. That’s when I decided to bring them closer to us. In reality, I wanted to reveal the emotions that also traverse them, just as I would with a fellow human. This portrait is thus the first in a series dedicated to these captivating gazes.

Passionate about photography since my adolescence, I only gained access to my first camera much later. It was initially through a computer screen that I discovered my passion for this art. It was a universe where I could transform reality with a simple click, where each image became a canvas for my creativity. I learned to manipulate pixels before even knowing how to capture an image. And when I finally held my first camera in my hands, it was as if all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. I never wanted to limit myself to just one photographic genre. I explored every aspect of this art, from nature to portraiture, from the abstract to the concrete. However, it is in portraiture that I found my calling, perhaps because I have always been an observer, silently attentive to the hidden stories behind the faces I meet. Pop culture has always fascinated me, whether it’s cinema, fashion, or television. These diverse influences have shaped an eclectic style in me, and even today, I enjoy creating images inspired by these realms
