All printed in small editions of 25 on some of the highest quality paper available today. I am often asked how I was able to capture this image and how I made it look the way it looks. My main objective that day was fishing on my boat and secondary was photography. As we had been trolling for stripers I noted that on one pass under the bridge I would try to capture the symmetry of the dual spans that are the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Yes, they are referred to as a single bridge. I was able to capture the image and did not really do anything with it for a long while. This is a single image HDR file. The sky is actually high hazy cirrus clouds not storm clouds as they appear to many. A beautiful and stunning image that is easily recognized by a few groups of people. First, anyone who travels to the beach from Maryland, Virginia or Pennsylvania, they either love it or hate it and fear it. Voted very high on a short list of scariest bridges in the US. Mariners from around the globe know the bridge because of the proximity to Annapolis and the harbor of Baltimore. And one other special group that is the bridge swimmers. These brave individuals have to qualify to swim the length of the bridge and must stay in between the spans. If they stray outside the spans they are yanked out of the water. Currents, wind and other obstacles make for a very long 4.3 mile swim.
