About The Artwork

The word “Ego” has many interpretations. It arises from a division of ourselves from the source of true being. Ego protects our false "I", a mask created by the mind to survive in the world of humans. This is the initial splitting of oneself in two, the creation of a relationship between yourself and your invented character, the source of all inner conflicts. The ego, protecting a random set of ideas about oneself, is an extremely fragile and unreliable mental construct. Therefore, it is forced to live in constant fear and discontent, to defend itself and to enlarge itself. Its content may vary from person to person, but the basic essence of any ego is the same: to defend itself through resistance, power, greed, desire to control, attack, make itself right, and others wrong. The stronger the ego, the more intensive is the feeling that other people is the source of all problems. On the other side, there is nothing wrong in our Ego. It helped us to survive and protected us with its limited means. This is a survival instinct that does not know how to live through love and acceptance. It is like a teddy bear. It served its purpose, we had fun with it for a while, we abandon it when we are ready. Artwork comes hand signed and numbered with certificate of authenticity. Printed on Hahnemuehle Photo Rag Premium paper with 2 cm white borders on each side. Each limited edition has 2 AP.

Mikhail was born on February 22, 1984 in Kherson, Ukraine in a family of ship cooks. His childhood and youth were spent on the ruins of the communist era with all the ensuing consequences. He followed the footsteps of his parents to the maritime officer career at sea, gained financial independence, but no satisfaction. Looking for senses, he started to experiment with digital photography solely as a hobby. That all changed in 2009, when he first saw realistic digital collages. Since then, he has been actively working and developing in this genre, getting satisfaction from creating artworks with spiritual and philosophical meaning. Experimenting with techniques and images, he discovered his own style to convey both rational and sensual sides of his world. He uses artistic practice as a tool for exploring and transforming himself. Since 2014 his single artworks and projects have received more than 60 awards in international professional photography contests, including International Photography Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, Sony World Photography Awards, ND Awards, Tokyo International Photography Awards, OneEyeland Photography Awards, Moscow International Photography Awards. He was featured in digital and printed publications worldwide.
