About The Artwork
The original title of this image was 'Opening Ground'. This is because the tiny but visible fissures in the centre reminded me of volcanic vents opening and letting the lava out. The joyful pinks and oranges gave it a gentle look, conveying that the wrath of nature destroys but only to create. It regenerates. But then my manfriend looked at it and thought of something else. To him, this looks like a vagina, hence the change. I asked him if it reminded him of a particular vagina. He dismissed my question. And I dismissed his Freudian lapse.... ...till I looked at my work again... .....It's now titled Vagina.... This work is an example of what I call Illustrography. I use photographs and elements from photographs together with illustration. In fact, Vagina comes from a range of photos of sunsets and flowers. Juxtaposing, overlaying, painting made this end result. You can have a Vagina on premium paper or on canvas. Perfect for a bedroom!
