About The Artwork

The work 'eye of the lamb' was inspired by the life I see around me on the Greek island of Crete. A community where the cycle of life and death is celebrated as it has been for centuries. Lambs are dispatched by the shepherd who raised them, the carcass hanging from a tree on the edge of the village. The head and especially the eyes a local delicacy, presented with great pride to special guests. My thoughts turn to how short the cycle of life is. I look at the eyes and they seem to be still alive, crying out to me in their silence.
