About The Artwork
The external world inspires my inner world. I hope my viewers will see themselves as having intersecting and overlapping social identities. These experiences may be empowering and limiting and therefore culminate in the idea of being many things at once. These intersectional experiences relate to being human in every sense of the word. The medium of printmaking allows for an array of art collectors to enjoy the work, versus making a one-of-a-kind piece of art for one person. The style of the typography is rough and gritty, to connect with those facets of our humanity.

What draws me in and gives me pause in the natural world is the raw, rough, and sublime. Out of that experience comes the creation of works that are simultaneously provocative, gorgeous, and at times terrifying. —Anoush Bargamian Anoush Bargamian (b.1963, Providence, Rhode Island) is a Chicago-based artist. She earned an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1990. Bargamian’s work is inspired by the history of abstraction, her Armenian-American identity, nature, Art Brut, memories, etc. The additive/subtractive process she uses creates highly textured surfaces. Materials in Bargamian’s work include paint, beeswax, soil, threads, etc. Her works are in private collections and have been exhibited in galleries and museums. www.sweetangst.com
