About The Artwork

ISHA means “woman” in Hebrew. This painting depicts Eve in the Garden of Eden just after she has eaten the forbidden fruit. The setting is dramatic, with a dark and gloomy sky that reflects the seriousness of her actions. Eve stands in the foreground, her expression one of fear and realisation as she grasps the gravity of her disobedience. The Serpent had deceived her. The background is filled with dark vegetation, enhancing the sense of a paradise now lost. This scene captures not just a biblical moment, but also the emotion and consequences of Eve’s decision.
