My work entails the ideas of memory, the construction/ assemblage of memory, and exploring personal family memory to express ideas. This then began the series of memory objects. Another object that became very vivid to me shortly after was a grandfather clock that resided in the living room. This particular grandfather clock had chimes that would lower throughout the day and would need to be wound back up to restart their cycle. As I was drawing the clock onto the limestone I began to remember certain memories that pertained specifically to this situation. My father would call me down from my room to come wind up the chimes. He would reach up over the head of the clock where he kept the key that opens the door. There was then another piece that would be pushed into the face of the clock in certain parts which was then rotated to lift the chime back up. There were times late at night where I would hear the clock strike midnight as I fell asleep.
