The long, drawn out breath filled the lungs— The fuel of life continued the connection to all— Animated bodies, dancing vibrantly in thoughtless motions of ecstasy. The mind, purified and clear, Watching the scene without center— The dynamic sea of form, Pulsed with soft bursts of arrhythmic movement Drinking air like clean water— Arriving at wholeness— No time, no separations in space— Just laughing, endless love and silence. ~Mike Sasaki 2019 The concavities are pierced as the eye is drawn into a journey of mystery, first progressing through decending layers of depth. The channels meet on the underside of the piece which is also hollowed out into a smooth cavity. Carved in western red cedar, with two laminated joints, the growth ring pattern flows across the piece in layers of gradiated colour. This pattern dips into the recesses with smooth deviations returning back to the original contour encompassing the form. As the shapes take soft turns, The emptiness cradles the material In a primordial dance of darkness and light— Abiding in wholeness, time and space end
