human flow JANUS Sculpture

For this artwork, Manfred Hellweger welded shaped steel pipes together. The cavities between the tubes provide insights into the interior and make the sculpture appear translucent depending on the viewing angle. “Human flow” was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus: “Pantha rhei” - everything flows. Just as the water in the stream is always in motion, all things, living beings and phenomena in the world are always changing. Everything changes and develops, nothing stays the same. “JANUS” comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 146 known moons of Saturn.
