About The Artwork

"Maternity" is a work that makes sculpture a new "approach to formal and conceptual synthesis". The work itself is the beginning of a small series of images that are somewhere between spatial perception and two-dimensional sculpture. Made of aluminum wire on a sober and continuous background, the figure evokes the theme of motherhood so often recorded in art but unjustly forgotten by the vanguards of our "hedonistic contemporary world". Perhaps a call of attention to a society colonized by the fear of procreation as a survival of culture, or perhaps just a symbol of forgotten themes. Maternity as a source of inspiration for family and renaissance art; creation of a series of small-format wire sculptures A4 sculpture, wire mesh elementary circuit

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and resident in Spain since the 80s. His studio is located in Madrid, where he has been working since then in different areas of visual arts, contemporary art, and illustration. He studied visual communication, advertising, scenery, and fine arts. He has worked with various publishers and magazines as an illustrator. He has exhibited work in various cities such as Buenos Aires, Madrid, Leon, Malaga, Toulouse, and New York. In recent years he has been working on different series of paintings, between figuration and abstraction, with the main sources of inspiration: mythology, dreams, landscape, and nature in general. In the captivating work of Carlos Villanueva, artistic expression comes to life through a humanist neofiguration that evokes deep and universal emotions. With an expressive technique that uses the palette knife and drag rule, as well as the influence of Pop Art, the artist achieves a masterful balance between figure and background, creating abstract compositions that explore the complexity of the human experience. The human figure, represented with sensitivity and passion, becomes the center of his visual narratives. Each gesture and expression captures the essence of the human condition, inviting the viewer to contemplate the full range of emotions and experiences that define our existence.
