Sculpture: Wood, Paint on Wood.
Quiet Riot IV is a bold mixed media wall sculpture. The solid American cherry hardwood panel was repurposed from a 75 year old wood dining room table. Layers of MDF panels are then laid over top of the cherry to create dimension and movement. This piece was inspired by mid-century modern design in both color and form. The bright poppy and bold colors combine with the natural cherry wood grain to suggest the time period. The juxtaposed angles and colors create a surprising sense of both movement and calm. As to the name, Quiet Riot, while there is a lot going on in this piece, it somehow has a zen like effect in the room. Like the eye of a storm. Take from it what you will, as I love how each viewer sees what they want in the piece. It is up for you to decide. This is the 4th piece in the series, each one features a distinct size and/or color palette. This is a smaller Quiet Riot, one of two made in this smaller size. This piece also has unique and distinct distressed paint on the edges which none of the other pieces in the series feature.
