About The Artwork

Every time I see “The too late miracle” it resembles to me something beautiful that arrived late, too late; the texture of the bone stands out against oblivion and the aluminum unfolds like a reminder that beauty can still blossom over the withered; a flower that flourishes on an inactive heart. “The too late miracle” is a sculpture by Diego López Ibarra, a material researcher who is constantly developing experiments to find new aesthetic expressions. The piece was made in 2018 during a long series of experiments. The molten aluminum was poured into the bone, creating the sensation that it has some sort of metallic marrow. His style fluctuates between materiality, fluid art and matterism.

His call is the materiality experimentation. He is intrigued to submit different materials to transformation processes. Some of his investigation lines till now have been crystal growth, wood shredding and metal melting, among other topics.
