-Todas la palabras del mundo- is inspired by that struggle present in us that creates a tension between that aspect of ourselves that hungers for higher, spiritual things and its counterpart that pulls us down towards the mundane and material. With this piece and my work in general my intention is to create in the viewer an awareness of what I consider to be our purpose, to remember that we are truly spiritual beings experiencing this material world temporarily and in separation in order to realize our need for unity, that unity that beyond the veil of appearances is the fundamental characteristic of the universe. My choice of materials is informed by the symbolism contained in them that is in turn determined by their characteristics and function. This particular piece is one of my earliest incursions into this magnificent medium that is the stone, a medium that carries as it were, an ancestral quality, and has been with us since the very beginning, an idea that I find extremely appealing and has always the capacity to feel both old and new at the same time.
