About The Artwork

∆ Whether by sea, stars, or locomotive, one navigates by what one knows. In this case, a constellation leads the way, and abstract patterns mix with everyday objects to create the feel of ocean spray on your cheek, the smell of the ocean at night, the sense of pink invading your life. Solid blocks of color and texture make up the structure of the piece, yet within this galaxy parts seem to break off and skid around, creating a slight sense of disorientation. This and the curved wire moving up around and down can create a fluid rocking sensation, almost like a good sort of seasickness. Once you’ve searched and searched, you come to find that sometimes a rose is just a rose, but wouldn’t be a rose without the adventure that led you to it. _________ Part of the ‘Mariner’ series ∆

ART, LIKE LIFE, HAPPENS BY ACCIDENT. A whiff of control; some semblance of steering. And belief of a firm grip. But we're grasping at the air beneath our feet. The truth is: we don't hold anything. It comes in bits and bobs, dashes and jots - brief glimpses, spaces, sliding out of sight. For truth, is to feel it slip away. And then to try to create it. - - - Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, & often both, my art reflects the intersection between logic and intuition, real and abstract, time and the timeless. - - - - - - - - - Steven Tannenbaum grew up in New Jersey, where he learned how to garden and defend himself. He now lives in Portland, Oregon, and his art is in public & private collections across the US, Israel, and England. You can find more of his work at: www.whatifind.com
