About The Artwork

Sea foam rushing up a sandy beach to cover your bare feet is like the whole ocean extending itself to you to make a tactile connection, nature’s very own siren song. "Distant Shores" was created using charcoal pencils as well as chalk for highlights, fixed on toned 90 lb acid free archival quality drawing paper. I grew up on the west coasts of Canada and England. I studied Illustration at Falmouth School of Art in the UK, and following college I began working with an agent illustrating children's books, and later worked as an artist and designer in the movie and television production. But there came a time when I needed a change of focus. I had always been fascinated by the natural flows of energy, nature and Eastern philosophy, so I left my commercial art career and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and became an Acupuncturist. Now, I live in Portugal, and I enjoy creating beautiful artwork of the wonderful nature that I am very grateful to be surrounded by. Being by the ocean under a sunny sky inspires in me a sense of appreciation and wonder that I hope to recreate in my art. I want people to look at my artwork and be inspired and feel connected to the abundant beauty of the world around us.
