About The Artwork
“Young Rembrandt” — charcoal & graphite on canvas, over oil underpainting, 24”x18.” The drawing began as a background sketch intended for painting....until I fell under its spell and was unable to cover it with paint. Instead, I developed the drawing, and have allowed it to stand on its own as a completed work, after Rembrandt’s self portrait, circa 1629, housed in Nuremberg at the Germanische National Museum.
