About The Artwork

On Canvas board with Golden Vintage Look minimally ornate wooden frame that compliments the painting. Contentment comes from the simple things in life. This woman walks from the mountains down to the plains of Himachal Pradesh in India with her flock of sheep. then back again. Now increasingly these tribes have started to settle down as their way of life is changing. Their children are in schools and many of these women are educated and skilled in the arts of spinning and weaving wool.. So having a home in one village makes sense. Her basic possessions of a good pair of shoes, an umbrella and clean warm clothes, maybe just a couple of pairs are sufficient, in her view...she spins the yarn as she awaits her daughter and son who are learning at the village school together...her lot is much better today than her mother and grandmother before her..she is content. The Canvas Size is 30cm x 40 cm. The Framed Size is: 39cm 50cm x 3 cm.

Kavita is an Indian artist who grew up in Himachal Pradesh, the Himalayan state in India. She now lives in Britain. Ever since her childhood she has displayed her creativity. Kavita learnt to paint from the age of 12 till she finished high school, from Mr D.J Prim a local artist in India. Thereafter she has been largely a self taught artist. She also went on to study textile design, both the Print form and the weaving techniques. Her paintings have been gaining attention and she has successfully sold some work both in India and in the United kingdom. Her work explores the simplicity of life that we see around us - the images that hide behind them the beauty and the ugliness, the conflict and the resolution, the struggles and the enslavement the experience and the realization, that we all experience in our lives. She says' "The simple moments in life..and just life...that is what I paint...each one of us is a saga and a struggle and a triumph...the strangers that we are to each other...that is life!" Kavita is presently working on a collection called 'SNOWFLAKES' where she is painting life in Britain under snow-its both beautiful and intimidating. She has started to put up some of this work on Saatchi for the first time. Kavita's Portfolio: https://sites.google.com/site/kavitadassart/ is where you will find some of her work. Her website www.afewspecialthings.co.uk also features some of her work which also includes handmade Jewelry by her and is worth a visit.
