Glug! Glug! Glug! was inspired by Michael's travels around the deserts of Nevada, Arizona and California, landscapes which are at the same time utterly alien and bizarrely familiar from the iconograpy of childhood cartoons and comic books. Day-long car journeys on endless dead-straight roads, watching the shadows spin and lengthen as the sun makes its way across a vast expanse of sky. And that delicious combination of anxiety about reaching your planned wateringhole before nightfall and anticipation of an alcoholic reward at journey's end. The painting comes ready to hang with deep painted edges.
