ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Painting of wild Iris on the meadow is part of collection "Portraits of maedow" The inspiration for these paintings is what cannot be seen in them and what we often forget - soil. Healthy and regenerating soil is the basis of a healthy ecosystem, of which we are also a part. The meadow community, which manifests itself in its beauty in flowers, is a reflection of the soil from which it grows. Meadow annual flowers scatter their seeds with the wind and will only grow where they have good conditions. Therefore, the image of a beautiful and multispecies meadow is a reflection of a good foundation that draws from the soil. This relationship, like none in nature, is not only one-way. Plants also contribute to soil regeneration. This image is also a metaphor for ourselves, whether from the point of view of physical or psychological prosperity. We can only grow in places where we have good conditions. However, when they are not here, we must contribute to their creation. Depending on healthy soil, we are not very different from plants, and we should work systematically to restore its health.

I am a landscape architect with a natural passion for plants. The creation of gardens is always an imitation of nature to a certain extent. The selection and use of plant species according to the requirements of a specific position is a prerequisite for an easily functioning garden. An important part of my work is therefore the observation of natural communities, how plants function as a whole system. Thanks to painting, I know these communities to observe even more carefully and become more deeply aware of the relationships that take place here. It is fascinating to me how the complex system of the meadow as an ecological community can act so simply and exude lightness. With the paintings in this series, my goal was to capture this feeling. The feeling when I breathe in a summer mountain meadow, a wet meadow and the edge of a forest or a dry meadow at the end of October, where the dry flowers of the grasses have taken over.
