About The Artwork

This Painting is on a Box Canvas and does not require a frame. SIZE: 45cm X 55cm X 3cm The Festival of Kites or Basant Panchimi heralds the arrival of Spring in India. Cutting across religions people come onto their terraces and fly kites...the skies are dotted with colours and shapes as the young and old engage in mock battles to dominate each others kites. Kavita is an Indian artist who grew up in Himachal Pradesh, the Himalayan state in India. She now lives in Britain. Ever since her childhood she has displayed her creativity. Kavita learnt to paint from the age of 12 till she finished high school, from Mr D.J Prim a local artist in India. Thereafter she has been largely a self taught artist. She also went on to study textile design, both the Print form and the weaving techniques. Her paintings have been gaining attention and she has successfully sold some work both in India and in the United kingdom. Her work explores the simplicity of life that we see around us - the images that hide behind them the beauty and the ugliness, the conflict and the resolution, the struggles and the enslavement the experience and the realization, that we all experience in our lives. She says' "The simple moments in life..and just life...that is what I paint...each one of us is a saga and a struggle and a triumph...the strangers that we are to each other...that is life!" Kavita is presently working on a collection called 'SNOWFLAKES' where she is painting life in Britain under snow-its both beautiful and intimidating. She has started to put up some of this work on Saatchi for the first time. Kavita's Portfolio: https://sites.google.com/site/kavitadassart/ is where you will find some of her work. Her website www.afewspecialthings.co.uk also features some of her work which also includes handmade Jewelry by her and is worth a visit.
