About The Artwork

Mellow: strong and contrasting inspired by autumn colour pallet warmth within ice cream like shapes of the clouds chaotic motion of the paper planes lifted with a sudden draft scared away like birds or people like lost souls in search of the new place uprising in circles and into the unknown aware or less so, unknown is no longer frightening skies luring them in with bright horizon gravity of undiscovered and under explored weighs in and off they go...flying, flying up and away === Migration Collection: Independent, driven, yet fragile, her artistic ideology is a form of self-reflection. It lies with uncertain trajectory of a paper plane – a delicate vessel connecting space and time. The philosophical message shrouded in Yuliya’s elegant creations varies from painting to painting providing for less obvious emotional narrative.    Visualising chaotic or organised trajectories with her paper plane formations, she emphasises positive values of adaptive human behaviour and prevailing strength over perceived weakness.  She also charges the little planes with an identity of a faceless portrait allowing for individual ability to overcome challenges facing unfamiliar highs in solitude or as a group.    Yuliyas’ practice combines subtle watercolour techniques and colour intense acrylic blends that create vibrant, or to the contrast, delicate surfaces sealed with oil and alkyd mediums .  == watercolour, acrylic and oil on large canvas 2.86 cm rounded edge shipped stretched, unframed, ready to hang straight out of the box floating frame would be highly recommended or looks nice unframed (white edges) created using only artist (not graduate) quality paints and cotton canvas

Yuliya artistic talents started to forge from a really early age as she spent hours in the after school classes experimenting with media and receiving classical art training. She grew up between the leafy hills and lakes of Northern Kazakhstan and industrial Caspian coast town where she was born in 1980. In turbulent times of post Soviet collapse her future was decided in favour of law studies. So artistic development had to be slowed down. Only 15 years later Yuliya was able to return to art looking for meaningful engagement. Since 2015,  she showed her work as independent and with the gallery, was part of international established art fairs and shown with alternative gallery spaces.  Her work is well sold on all the major online platforms and found its way to movie sets (Marvel for Doctor Strange 2016, ABC for Scandal, 2017), have been shown in members clubs, stylish London hotels and fine dining venues, acquired by interior designers for yachts, cruise liner, international resorts and held in private collections world wide. Yuliya is known for developing collections filled with elegant flow and ethereal glow. She explores idea of fragility and strength in her sky scapes,  isolation at sea in dreamy sail boats coastal series, urban crowd dynamics in Connected works on paper and most recently cyclical nature of florals in her 2024 Blossom collection. With each of them focusing on delivering a dreamy side of an elemental realm, the body of works at large filled with weight free emotion effortlessly filling the viewer with light nostalgia. fall involve with me on instagram: @y_martynova_ where i show my life, my work, my beautiful house, daughter and occasionally a hiding hubby
