About The Artwork
The injustice and violence by the Spanish government in reaction to the legal independence movement of Catalunya, has been the object of this painting. You see various newspaper artiles that describe the vioence during the referendum of 1 t October 2017, and the rotest against the imprisonment without trial of Catalan independence movement leaders. The lady is example of the older generation, that suffered under Franco, and that knows very clearly for what reasons they fight for independence and against fascism. Durong the winter she and many others, used to come to Placa Catalunya in Barcelona, to knit a yellow shawl that was to reach from Barcelona to the prison of the political prisoners, near Madrid, as a symbol for their protest.
