About The Artwork

I was inspired by the work of " Jigoku tayu and Ikkyu" (created about 1871, Israel Goldman Collection, London) by Kyosai Kawanabe, the ukiyoe master in 19th century, Japan. Besides I inspired by clothing tags that a variety of "made in xx" written on them. It shows that we live in the globalized world for a long time. Currency symbols are mounted on each clothing. They are shown in each detail photos upper left side of the main page. And also the two parts of the work which are the view and the sky from the window are inspired by another two works and artists. I thought well about the harmony in the whole work. The original picture of Kyosai is that the skeleton geisha are playing the shamisen at the banquet, and Ikkyu, the famous ZEN bonze, is dancing upon the skeleton's head. Jigoku Tayu is a very beautiful and popular courtesan of the legend in the 15th century. Also many artists in the 19th century treat her as a subject of painting. There are treasures are drawn on the hem of Jigoku Tayu's kimono. It seems like "the game of sacredness and civil ". NOTE: This work will be exhibited May 27th 2024 in Katsushika Symphony Hills Gallery group show, Tokyo, so if you need this work, allow me to send until the show will be closed. Thank you so much for your waiting and patience. I appreciated it.

I'm not thinking about becoming a minimalist, I'm thinking about how to tell a story in a limited elements. I often inspired by the things around us, nature and music. In creating of forms, the nature told me a lot of things. And in color, I am particular about black and white as colors, and another colors are appearing, too. I think each human life is not easy, so if viewers can be played in a different world, then I am happy. For me, creation is a place to live. Kyo-Yuzen is one of the traditional and artistic Japanese dyeing methods. I was born and raised in the Kyo-yuzen family in Kyoto, Japan. Also my relatives were nearby, and many of them worked for Kyo-yuzen. I thought that "human beings draw pictures" in my child hood. There are many traditional and modern museums near my home and visited there well. Also I love children's picture books, Western animations and dramas on TV, and Manga, too. So many cultural feelings penetrated me, and I would like to fuse them to create artworks naturally. My career is started as a textile designer for Paris and NY haute couture in the textile design company and next entered a German textile designer's studio as the same occupation. After that as a freelance, I set up own studio in Aoyama, Tokyo, created many illustrations and artworks. Creating artworks and held many solo and selected group exhibitions in inland and overseas since then.
