About The Artwork

This painting features a color chart showing off the rarest 18 colors (very well curated) to create a color wheel. 1 white, 1 black, 2 of every primary and secondary- the exception to the 1 or 2 rule is blue and brown of which there are 3 of each. Blue because it is the worlds most popular color, and brown because it hosts the rarest color ( Mummy Brown ). . Top right clockwise- Orpiment Scheeles Green Emerald Green Manganese Blue Lapis Lazuli Han Purple Tyrian Purple Rose Madder Cinnabar Realgar Quinacridone Gold Indian Yellow ———————————— Outer rim- Lead White- TOP Ivory Black- BOTTOM ———————————— Top colors- YInMn Blue Caput Mortuum Asphaltum ————————— Bottom color- Mummy Brown ————————— . Every color that you see in this color chart is genuine. Most were hand mulled in cold pressed linseed oil (the same that I use to make my handmade hues), a few were pre made in a tube, and one (Tyrian Purple) was made in acrylic emulsion.

'In my work, I like to focus on themes of Science-Fiction and Mythology. I use a variety of techniques to achieve these themes, primarily- Abstraction and Surrealism. I am also heavily interested in the history of oil painting and conduct independent research on historical painting materials, which influences the materials that I use for my work.' - Handmade Oil Paint - Vintage Art Supplies - Mummy Brown book - Art -Ryan Demaree
