About The Artwork
This work is a minimalist composition that integrates black graphic gestures that limit three green shapes. I started using black gesso and with them I created the graphic gesture and I liked that it was not a uniform curve of paint, but rather that inside it had glazes and transparencies that caused a vibration. For the background I used pigment with casein glue, which gave tranquility and contrasted with the dark lines. The green shapes are made of acrylic with pigment diluted in casein glue. Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940 now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour, light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
