ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Warmth Series Warmth Monday, Tuesday, Infinity, Thursday, Friday, Saturday "My flower-partitur decays slowly with time, but I hear the breath, life and colour, where the ‘still-life’ becomes its own captured moment in time, against the fading light…." Tamara Friebel Tamara Friebel re-composed from leftover flowers, dropped on the floor of a local flower shop in everyday business. These kinds of objects are often cut short in terms of their life-force existence, and here they were put into a composition highlighting the significance of the present moment. These discarded flower arrangements then passed into the new acoustic compositions by Tamara, she composed a 15 minute chamber opera using the flower fragments as her template for the pallete of sounds and libretto. My artistic work holds a reverence for nature and sublime force. Sculpture, 3d prints and still life, captured in artistic photography, "scores of operatic voices dancing on the lens...." My images and sculptures explore, often through still-life gesture, the phrasing of a moment, observing beauty and fragility in nature over time. My sculptures and still-life photography are like musical compositions to me, and they often serve to inspire a complex form which I use to compose. These artistic works become part of my compositional ouevre, and from them I have composed chamber operas, pieces for piano, chamber works and songs. But they are also artistic objects in their own right.
