About The Artwork

This sculpture is carved from one piece of wood. It is untreated so the raw wood can be touched, smelled and enjoyed. The softness of the untreated surface is part of the concept. This is the third in the exploration of bipodal forms. There is a tension between the parts and the whole free standing form acts as a resolution of the tension. I made this piece so that it speaks for itself. The viewer's feeling when looking at it is what I feel is most important - the impression which comes before the words to describe it. I hope someone will resonate with this piece and incorporate it into their living space and enjoy it. I am exploring themes such as non-duality, the human mind and perception. My work is influenced by these themes in subtle ways. I also get inspiration from watching our physiological world around us. These forms from the "Symbiosis" line are intended to add a sense of mystery and tranquility where they are placed. They have a very modern feel but also carry a sense of tradition and refinement.
