I am the founder and co-owner of a specialist laser-cutting company located in Heiligenhaus/Germany. In my spare time I create collages and painting from ultrapure titanium using a laser beam. Anodic oxidation”, known in medical technology for the colour coding of implants and the quick identification of individual components by surgeons, is the main creative element of my work. This is made possible using bonded titanium oxide within the range of the wavelength of visible light. The impression of a colour emerges through interference within the colourless layer. The layer thickness is accurately determined and therefore almost every colour can be produced. The impression of the colour is comparable to a shimmering oil film on water or bubbles. I have worked with the element of titanium as a specialist in laser application for three decades in the high-tech sectors such as Formula 1, medicine and prototype construction. In the international year of light 2015, I used this process in an artistic context on my easel. I paint onto titanium panels with a thickness of 1 millimetre and can also complete large-sized projects. I think that my use of high tech materials and my own technical competency gives my work an individual quality which is very difficult to replicate. All of my works are titled and signed with a lasercut.
