About The Artwork

This sculpture is an investigation into the tension created by parts of the same whole. The relationship between the concave part and the spherical part are in focus. There is a tension between the two but a sense of harmony at the same time. I want the viewer to answer these questions in their own individual way. I think this sculpture has a serenity to it which is good to be placed in an appropriate environment. The duo-tone comes from the sapwood (lighter colour) and heartwood of the Walnut tree - a reminder of natural wood which also adds to its tranquil quality. My inspiration for this conceptual piece is looking into the essential questions for human beings and living - like our relationship to time, our psychological conditioning, and our perception of reality.
