About The Artwork

It is free standing. It can be placed on a shelf or table, etc. I would have the open air above it because the visual movement of the piece moves up away from the piece. I called it "Reach No.1' because it came from the idea of an inner struggle to breakout. The inner entity is pushing upward in an attempt to free itself - but yet again, another futile attempt. This is the inner struggle of the spirit or the mind. My work deals with issues of human perception, potential and energetic reality. This sculpture was very much inspired by inquiries into the possibility of the mind freeing itself from all conditioning. The wood is yellow cedar and it is sanded smooth. The surface, left untreated, remains aromatic and wonderful. It is designed to be touched, smelt, heard and observed. It's a weighty piece and will add a dynamic yet subtle presence to a special spot.
