About The Artwork
Inspired by William Blake's apocalyptic scene, this art work depicts the scene of the great fire of london, where the sewage treatment plant no longer provide its service and cause the city to be in chaos. This is a manifestation of Georges Bataille's notion of 'Base Materialism', which rejects the imposition of hierarchy to objects . Base matter, such as the waste product of the human body, are often despised as a result of society's inability to assimilate them. This work is part of the series of 'Alchemy of Excrement'
