About The Artwork

IMAGINE 24H x 18W with 3/4" sides painted light white Finished with gloss varnish to protect from dust and UV rays Signed Front and en verso Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity Wired and ready to hang Isn’t it odd that even though the lyrics to John Lennon’s song IMAGINE were written in 1971, they are still timeless today? Those words still ring true even though they were written 46 years ago! Rolling Stone‘s David Fricke commented: “[Lennon] calls for a unity and equality built upon the complete elimination of modern social order: geopolitical borders, organized religion, [and] economic class.” The idea for this painting came to me as I wondered what he might be thinking, if he were here today, seeing all this craziness in the world. That is why there are all the paint splatters and drips, I wanted to give this piece a frenetic kind of emotion, but beneath it all - there is calm.... John Lennon was such a visionary. I miss him... Gone too soon...

Globally collected artist Deb Breton is an abstract expressionist artist living & working in Northern California, U.S. Hi, I'm Deb, In school, I was that quirky kid who was always drawing during English Lit. Class, or backstage painting sets for the Drama Department. After graduation, I dove into the fast-paced world of news at the Saint Petersburg Times. And at the top of my “corporate career”, I was an artist and designer for such notable clients as Nestle, Warner Brothers, and the Dali Museum. But I just wasn't happy with the hustle, and I missed getting my hands dirty working on my own ideas. So, I picked up wood turning, which eventually led me full circle back to painting. Nowadays, you'll find me in my quasi hippie studio working with acrylics, oils, ink, charcoal, spray paint, and even repurposed bits found on nature walks. My tools are things like sponges, wire, rope, branches, squeegees, and I've even painted a floral using fresh cut flowers as my brushes. I've been on a roll lately, breaking a lot of the rules I was “taught” about art. But probably the hardest thing for me to learn was to step out of my own way and let creativity flow. My art is a reflection of my scattered mind —inspired by life, nature, the universe and sometimes even the beat of my playlist. It's REALLY hard for me to stay on script—my ADHD ensures that. But I find peace and calm in painting abstract art. For me, art is about telling an emotional story, but with color. And it's about embracing who we truly are and celebrating what makes us unique. It's a reminder to honor our authentic selves in a world that often tries to box us in.
