About The Artwork

This collage belongs to a series entitled Kaleidoscopes 2019. They are made in small format on a textured acid-free canvas paper to guarantee its durability over time. There are only 24 pieces and each one is unique. This is number 4. None is the same as another and when they interact side by side you feel the movement. The predominant color is blue. In the content I wanted to express the idea of travel and change. My suggestion when framing this collage is to place it on a blank square mat of 21.5 x 21.5 cm on it, leaving only the blue circle visible. And then affixed it in a white box-type frame with 3 to 4 cm depth. This method allows for the three-dimensionality of the collage to be appreciated in addition to its protection, by the transparent glass or acrylic.

Artist, illustrator and Architect, with a long and distinguished career in the disciplines of drawing, painting and illustration. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, on July 17, 1953, after her parents moved from Spain at the onset of that country’s Civil War. Engineers and Architects like Fernando and Amos Salvador Rodrigañez, from the Rioja region, and one of the most representative families of Spain’s fourteenth century, are an integral part of her ancestry. Early years Carmen grew up surrounded by books, nature and animals, as well as pencil-made architectural plans, reproductions of Picasso, Dalí and Miró, Calder mobiles, fabrics, embroidery, freshly cut dresses, sewing and needle threading of grandmothers, in addition to her mother's book binding works.
