Scattered Perception Collage

The work is part of a series culminating in a installation, created by using algorithms from Facebook's own facial recognition software to create motifs of random stranger's Facebook profile pictures, that are repetitively used to create multi-layered designs as a critique on the daily surveillance of our lives. The motifs are interwoven with each other using black soft sheen insulation tape, silver aluminium ventilation tape and matt black craft tape which bring depth to the surface and creates a subtle relationship between light, the works and the viewer to create active engagement. As an artist my influences are minimalism, Frank Stella's early black lines work, Installation artist Carsten Höller and system / process movements. I am intrigued with the relationship between 'machine' and 'self' with all my work being hand-made as a political act of craft. Made to sit flush against the wall, and due to the weight of the MDF, mirror plates are advised to hang this work.
