I was born in the islands, so the damage that was done to Puerto Rico by the Hurricane in 2017 made me sad. Little did I could imagine that another hurricane season would be here and there would STILL be SO many people there STILL without electricity and (some) without running water.. I decided to do a piece of art that depicted the destruction of such a beautiful island and people, and the "official" reaction by the mainland government at that time.. ".... is an island surrounded by water, BIG water, OCEAN water..." I used some brilliant white powdered sand to represent the island, and both a navy and sky blue to represent the deep ocean and the shallows surrounding Puerto Rico. I then used some small "doll furniture" to represent the destruction that was caused on the people, and finally, a "street style" of type in a sparkling purple ink to write the words... I am still feeling the pain of my island brothers and sisters that, after almost a year, are STILL waiting, and dying...

Being born in Nassau Bahamas, I incorporate its of color and movement in my art. As a child was entranced by the brilliant turquoise seas and white powder sands. The Bahamas is filled with intense Yellow Elders, our National flower, pink flamingos, intensely colored poinciana trees, purple bougainvillea. and crimson Hibiscus Flowers. My favorite time of the year is always Christmas and The New Year's holidays because of the whirling parades of our National Junkanoo Festival. I recall the bright colorful costumes made of fringed crepe paper, undulating in the streets to the beat of the goat skin drums, and metal cowbells and bellowing horns. Although I now reside in The U.S. those memorable flashes of color and movement constantly invade my art as abstract representations of the home that I will always love. I like to use splashes of pure acrylic colors along with objects that enhance and intensify my message. Also, I have been an avid photographer and lately started combing the two disciplines. I hold degrees in both Fine Art and Photography, and have won several awards, including "Best of Show" My work as been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, and California, Miami, Budapest Hungry, and The Bahamas.
