A curly, red-haired female figure pours water and life from her dress; a vessel flowing into the earth at the edge of a field under a blue sky with fluffy clouds. Created from a life-drawing session with Drawing Cabaret Couture featuring model, Gemma Howell. Inspired by a visit to the Ross fountain in Edinburgh Scotland, Ella Davies created a 4-piece fashion collection honoring the mythological Aloja featured in the fountain. Aloja are dreamily-beautiful feminine beings found within Catalan mythology. These water-women live near fresh water and are believed to have hypnotic voices with life-giving powers and the ability to shapeshift, becoming water blackbirds. Some say an Aloja can boil water with anger. The shapes of the garments in this collection are extracted from ancient fertility symbols and the fabric is vintage upholstery material used to represent the gorgeous detailing of the fountain's exterior.
